Certificate Overview

The M.Eng. in Engineering Management Pathway Certificate is designed as a credit-bearing bridge between engineering practice and technical management. Learners would complete any three graduate MEM courses drawn from the Stevens Online Master of Engineering in Engineering Management curriculum.

For most learners, the recommended path begins with core engineering management areas: complex project management, engineering economics and cost analysis, and decision and risk analysis. These areas help engineers move from technical execution into leadership conversations where scope, cost, risk, and systems complexity shape business decisions.

Students with strong prior preparation in one of these areas may speak with an advisor to design a different three-course path from eligible MEEM coursework. Learners who earn a B or better in each certificate course and meet applicable GPA expectations can use that performance to support continuation into the parent degree.

Built for Engineering Complexity

General management training often treats project management and finance as domain-neutral. Stevens' engineering management curriculum is designed for technical environments where cost, risk, uncertainty, systems dependencies, and engineering tradeoffs matter.

The pathway lets learners begin with focused graduate study and decide whether to continue into the full MEM with credit already earned.

Curriculum

This pathway certificate uses a flexible course-pool model. Learners complete any three eligible graduate MEM courses from the Stevens Online MEEM curriculum. Most students are encouraged to begin with project management, engineering economics, and decision/risk analysis coursework.

Recommended Engineering Management Pathway

Most learners are encouraged to begin with three core areas: complex project management, engineering economics and cost analysis, and decision and risk analysis.

  1. Complex project management: learn how to manage technical projects with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and constraints.
  2. Engineering economics and cost analysis: build quantitative fluency for technical investment and resource decisions.
  3. Decision and risk analysis: evaluate technical and organizational options under uncertainty.

Students with strong prior preparation may work with an advisor to design a different eligible three-course path.
